Global Mobility Services

Destination Services

We provide a range of destination services in SW Ontario. One of our directors holds a GMS certification to ensure that your employees always receive professional help. Request your own combination of Pre-Assignment and Post-Arrival Services such as look-see; Temporary Living Assistance, Home Finding, Home Orientation and Settling-in Services and Area Orientation. Contact Adele with your instructions, and for more information.

Home Orientation and Settling-in Services

In most instances, we are contracted to meet and greet employees upon arrival, then introduce and welcome them to their new home. Generally, we buy basic and essential groceries for the home that people who are travel weary can use. It is nice to be able to have a cup of coffee, a sandwich or even some instant noodles and a glass of juice (or breakfast in the morning) without going through the challenging task of discovering a new supermarket in a new city.

We inspect the home before arrival and handing over. Depending on employer's requirements we may complete a full report of the condition of the home at the time. Upon arrival, employees are taken through the unit to be acquainted with the property owner's instructions and the equipment in the unit. Every house or apartment has its own little quirks and different equipment. Some dishwashers and laundry equipment may fail if the wrong detergent is used. Some septic systems fail under conditions that may be regarded as unusual for someone coming from an entirely different community or country. Thermostats, furnaces and snowploughs are discussed along with garbage and recycling days and bus routes, etc.

Standard fee $250. We get specific instructions from clients regarding the level and extent of the service required.

Area Orientation

A well-orchestrated guided tour of the city and surrounding areas for inbound expats can make a world of difference. We briefly visit and mark out on maps: down town, City Hall, waterfronts, docks, Government offices (for social insurance applications and drivers permits), police station, hospitals, malls, shopping areas, the industrial area (Chemical Valley), Lambton College, different residential areas and some schools, land marks, highways, banks, specialty stores, bus routes, social and public convention places, art galleries, YMCA, up river and down river, the beaches, bike routes and parks.

Duration 4 hours. Take home book about the history and current activities of Chemical Valley and Sarnia.

1 or 2 people. Each additional person from a significantly similar culture $ 60

Area Orientation and Settling-in Services

This service includes the Area Orientation plus assisting the inbound expat with the required Government and Provincial required registrations and applications. A visit to Service Canada to obtain a Social Insurance Number (SIN) and Service Ontario for driver’s licence exchange or application. Assistance with the opening of a bank account. Ensuring the expat is familiar with the process of applying for their Ontario Health Insurance (OHIP) at the Service Ontario offices.

Duration full day. Take home book about the history and current activities of Chemical Valley and Sarnia.

1 or 2 people. Each additional person from a significantly similar culture $ 60

Pre-Assignment Service (look-and-see)

A brief orientation of the area to introduce employees and their families about housing and schooling options, typical living conditions, medical facilities, transportation systems, shopping, and more. To answer questions and address concerns about the community they may soon call home.

Temporary Living Assistance

We are associated with a fairly wide network of property owners in SW Ontario who specialize in making short and long term furnished accommodation available to our corporate clients.

Home Finding Service

We assist in finding suitable housing options and provide assistance with lease and rental contract negotiations and with the connection of utilities. Depending on employer's requirements we may complete a full report of the condition of the home at the time of negotiations.
